Does anyone know what the common technical name for the attached image of a spring loaded pin? I am pretty sure it is on the market, but not sure what it is called. Maybe you have used them before.

*Note: This is similar to some scaffold clamps, but it is spring loaded, while some scaffold clamps are gravity activated.

1. What is a spring release pin?

A spring release pin is a type of fastener commonly used in mechanical and engineering applications. It consists of a cylindrical body with a spring-loaded plunger or ball at one end. When the pin is inserted into a hole, the spring compresses and the plunger or ball locks the pin in place.

2. What is the purpose of a spring release pin?

The main purpose of a spring release pin is to provide a quick and secure method for fastening two or more components together. It can also be used as a positioning or alignment pin, as the spring allows for some flexibility in the placement of the components.

3. What are the advantages of using a spring release pin?

Spring release pins offer several advantages over other types of fasteners. They are easy to use and require no tools for installation or removal. They also provide a strong and reliable connection, and the spring mechanism allows for some tolerance in the fit of the components being joined.

4. Are there any common applications for spring release pins?

Spring release pins are commonly used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing. They are often used to hold together components in assemblies, as well as for fixtures, jigs, and other mechanical systems.

5. What is the technical name for a spring release pin?

The technical name for a spring release pin can vary depending on the manufacturer and industry, but it is often referred to as a "detent pin" or "spring plunger pin." Other common names include "quick-release pin," "locking pin," or simply "spring pin."
