I have been through a lot of exercises about writing a fermi surface in a reduced zone-scheme. What were originally perfect spheres in k-space were transformed to more exotic shapes in this process. But my question was always: What was it good for? Why do we want to write the fermi-surface in reduced zone-scheme?
