i too started on vacuum AM radio.

Highpass to block audio out of hiss, amplify, halfwave rectify exactly as with old fashioned AM radio diode detector, lowpass hiss out of detected signal..

Trouble is you need one detector per reed.

But doubtless you're well ahead of me.
