Do men have dirtier minds than women?

In summary, the "area for sexual pursuit" is 2.5 times larger in the male brain than in the female brain, with men thinking and talking more about sex and having a higher sex drive. However, the concept of "dirtier" minds is subjective and can vary from person to person. Some believe that men have dirtier minds due to their constant thoughts about sex, while others argue that women may have dirtier minds due to their attention to detail and openness to discussing sexual encounters. Ultimately, it depends on the individual and their experiences.

Do men have dirtier minds than women in general?

Define "dirtier".

In my experience - which is considerable - men are definitely more "on the look-out" but women are by far dirtier, as well in imagination as in practice.

I would say that men think about sex more, but I don't know that they have dirtier minds.

Does the fact that your name makes me think of people named Lisa I know naked count toward this poll at all?

I'd agree with that with a 'most men' though

I would think women are better liars.

Yes, due mainly to poor ear hygene.

I think it depends on the person and the age. Younger people probably think about sex more than older people.

For me, there are many more interesting things to think about with respect to the world, the universe and Nature.

o:)

I think that women talks more about details when it comes to sex than men do, while men usually keeps the details private and but make statements referring to sex a lot.

Do that mean that women or men are the dirtiest?

I am very private and won't talk about sex to friends. I don't know any women that do. I think that women talking about sex in a crowd of other women is a male fantasy. We may get dirty, but we keep that private.

Year or two back public radio carried a This American Life story about a woman who had undergone a sex change operation. As she went through the drug treatment to become he, 'he' gave a hilarious description of his change in mind set as the testosterone kicked in. The person sounded very rationale, and careful about not falling into stereotypes, yet he admitted to a series of what we might call stereotypical male behaviours that had never happened to 'her' prior: constant sexual imagery about women he would encounter in public, and , apropos this forum, a new found fascination with physics.

I think he also related being irritated about the odd accusation of being a misogynist in casual interaction with women.

This is rather unbelievable story so I'll see if I can't google it up.

Yaha: http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/220/Testosterone
Act Two. Infinite Gent.
An interview with Griffin Hansbury, who started life as a woman, but began taking massive testosterone injections seven years ago, and now lives as a man. He explains how testosterone changed his views on nature vs. nurture for good. (17 minutes) Song: "To Sir With Love," Lulu

2) Recently came across terrific audio from a 2002 episode of This American Life while researching testosterone for my next book. Griffin Hansbury is a transsexual who asserts that after receiving ‘T’ (testosterone), he became interested in science and understood physics. Perhaps, but I suspect he may also be susceptible to placebo. Listen and decide for yourself.

I must live in a fantasy world then. I'm not saying that EVERY woman I know talks (in front of me) to me or other women about sexual encounters, but it has happened on more than one occasion. My male friends may admit to some kind of encounter, but that is as far as it goes. To say it is a male fantasy is quite simply wrong. I also suppose it depends on what you call a 'crowd'.

Maybe it has to do with you being around? I hear women talk about sex more than I hear men talk about sex btw, unless you count the "lulz" talk but I don't think that should count really.

Hm, seems like no females voted so far (15 votes, all males). I wonder what that means. Probably that Evo is right - women doesn't want to talk about sex.

It could very well be my personal group of friends. It could also be a generational thing. It just was never anything to talk about, we had other interesting subjects, our deviant sex lives were personal. Why would you need to talk about your sex life, to brag? Maybe my dullest sex is your most exciting, does it matter?

Sis, you're such a prude!

I'm completely the opposite. It was worse when I was younger and worked in a bar with a bunch of cocktail waitresses and played in a band. Filthiest locker room talk you ever heard. I'v mellowed a lot since then, of course. :blushing:

I'm no prude, I would melt the sox off those that I'm not close to. Otherwise, I am as pure as the driven snow.

I took a look at the options again.

I'm male and I think men have dirtier minds!

I'm male and I think that depends on the person!

I can answer yes to both and there is no contradiction. Yes, it depends on the person and yes, I think males have dirtier minds on average.

So far the only conclusive information gathered from the poll is that males vote 15 times more often in internet polls on who has dirtier minds.

I voted for "I'm male and I think men have dirtier minds." My reasoning is that it says male on my birth certificate. When I went to take that Rorschach test, the doctor pulled out this amazing collection of pornographic pictures with people and animals is all kinds of unusual positions. He asked me what I thought of each one. When it was over he said I was obsessed with sex, but he was the one with the dirty pictures. My wife, contrarywise, doesn't take to dirt in any form.

Sexual pursuit doesn't necessarily relate to having a dirty mind. You can have a dirty mind and not need to pursue anyone because they all pursue you.

It just means women's minds are more efficient, getting more thoughts into a smaller space.

This is probably not the usual way but...

On the one hand I am just about as much of a male dick as you can imagine...
but on the other I get really offended by misogynistic stereotypes. REALLY! I have women! Mothers! Sisters! Daughters!

My girlfriend is currently working towards her god-knows-which-number PhD in neuro-something-whatever (I'm not paying close attention) LOL... (she's the clever one) but if you would as much as THINK about ****ing with her like that I would hit you so hard with so many megatons of killing intent that there wouldn't even be anybody left to tell the story.

My point is: I am single minded. I am a dick. I am rude and brutal. Curt. Intimidating, even.

We joke about that. However dirty I am, she's the "map" in this question. Much to my delight...

I tend to figure that men and women are for more alike than people usually think but in this regard I would have to say that men are worse than women.

I am using my own subjective definition of dirty though. I have met plenty of women who think about sex often. I have met plenty of women who have rather wild fantasies and even talk about them and play them out from time to time. In my experience women are quit on par with men as far as the dirtiness of their minds go in most ways. But the average man seems to have an obsession with sex that leads down various odd paths of fantasy which your average woman would likely find repulsive. Men seem to have a way of sexualizing damn near anything. I would provide examples but they would not be very appropriate for this forum.

In the end I think it is more of a cultural thing though. Women are "supposed to be" more "innocent" than men and so fewer of them seem to be willing to let that part of them loose to the degree that men are.

That's an interesting corollary of that old Freudian "whore-and-madonna" thing.

6. The average man will think about sex as often as once a minute, while the average woman will think of sex much less often, as infrequently as once every one or two days.

Most women would be shocked and horrified if they knew what goes through our heads. We are animals.

  • #34
Irrespective of how often either sex talks about sex:

In my experience, most of the claims made by men during sex conversations contain a significant amount of embellishment. I'd say women tend to be more honest about their sexual experience(s).

I talk about sex with other women, with other men, in fact, I talk about sex while standing at a microphone in a crowded lecture hall. I may not be typical. :uhh:

As for details about personal sex lives, sure, I have a few close friends who I can discuss things like that with.
