In summary, the poster is asking for clarification on the values needed for calculating Tm and Te in a 3 phase wye BLDC motor. They are specifically questioning the unit of inertia and the terminal resistance listed in the spec sheet.

Hi everyone, first time poster!

Im having trouble reading the spec sheet attached and want to confirm the values I am using for calculation of Tm and Te.

The 3 phase wye BLDC motor spec sheet lists

1. Terminal Resistance = R2ph = 0.06 Ω

So this is Rphase and not R(line to line)?

ie Rphase is the resistance of each winding/phase of the 3 phase wye network?

2. What is the correct unit of inertia since it affects both the units of Kt and torque T?

Load inertia is listed in (kg cm^2) ie in SI (kg m^2)

(kg m s^2) {dividing "kg m^2" by gravity g } makes sense since

"torque due angular acceleration T = angular acc * inertia"

Thank you for taking your time to read this!

Yes, that is how I would interpret it.

1. What is a BLDC motor spec sheet?

A BLDC motor spec sheet is a document that provides detailed information about a specific BLDC (brushless DC) motor, including its electrical and mechanical properties, performance characteristics, and other important specifications.

2. What are the most important specifications to consider when interpreting a BLDC motor spec sheet?

The most important specifications to consider when interpreting a BLDC motor spec sheet include the motor's voltage rating, current rating, speed-torque curve, power output, efficiency, and physical dimensions such as shaft diameter and motor length.

3. How do I determine the maximum speed of a BLDC motor based on its spec sheet?

The maximum speed of a BLDC motor can be determined by looking at its speed-torque curve on the spec sheet. The point where the curve intersects with the torque axis represents the maximum speed the motor can achieve with no load.

4. What does the "Kv" value mean on a BLDC motor spec sheet?

The "Kv" value on a BLDC motor spec sheet refers to the motor's velocity constant, which is a measure of how many revolutions per minute (RPM) the motor will turn when a voltage of one volt is applied. A higher Kv value indicates a motor that can spin faster with a given input voltage.

5. How do I interpret the efficiency rating on a BLDC motor spec sheet?

The efficiency rating on a BLDC motor spec sheet indicates the percentage of electrical energy that is converted into mechanical energy. A higher efficiency rating means that the motor is more efficient at converting electrical energy into rotational motion, resulting in less wasted energy and better overall performance.
