YAY! Nice people! I hope his legs were just stiff and not injured. Go mooselet!

That was nice. It looked like the mooselet hyperextended the rear legs though. The right rear looked injured.

The mooseling (?) is described as being exhausted, but not injured. Furthermore, a lonely m,oose cow had been prowling the woods in the vicinity, probably trying to find the kid. the rescuers "chased" the calf in the general direction of its mom, so hopefully, they rejoined.

What always has bothered me about the video was that young Mooselet was a long way from shore, a really long way. How did it make it way out there in the first place ?

Fair enough, but why would the mother leave baby Moose in a lurch on the ice then ? I do remember that I read that the mother was nearby the shore when the baby was rescued.

1. What is "Mooselet takes a Bambi on the ice" about?

"Mooselet takes a Bambi on the ice" is a phrase that refers to the behavior of a moose calf (Mooselet) taking a young deer (Bambi) onto a frozen body of water (ice). This behavior has been observed in the wild and is believed to be a form of play or social bonding between the two animals.

2. Is this behavior common among moose and deer?

While there are documented cases of this behavior, it is not considered a common occurrence among moose and deer. It is typically seen in areas where moose and deer populations overlap and where there is a large enough body of frozen water for them to access.

3. Are there any risks involved in this behavior?

While there is no evidence to suggest that this behavior is harmful to either the moose or the deer, there are potential risks involved. If the ice is not thick enough, both animals could fall through and potentially drown. Additionally, predators may take advantage of the animals being on the ice and attack them.

4. What might be the reason for this behavior?

The exact reason for this behavior is not fully understood, but it is believed that it could be a form of social bonding or play between the two animals. It could also be a way for the moose to teach the deer about navigating on the ice or to share a food source.

5. Has this behavior been studied by scientists?

Yes, this behavior has been observed and studied by scientists. While it is not a widely researched topic, there have been studies conducted to better understand the reasons behind this behavior and its potential impact on moose and deer populations.
