I have heard some universities offer a Computer Systems Engineering degree.
I would like some info on what computer systems engineers do. I've googled it but I see most american universities offer computer science and engineering.
Where do computer systems engineers work? What do they do?
Is there really much point in taking this course? What is the market like in computer hardware and embedded systems design?
I feel that there are a few major companies that offer the hard ware and the others write custom software to fit it to their needs.
Would I be better of taking an EE degree?

Computer Systems Engineering is a multidisciplinary field that combines principles from both computer science and engineering to design, develop, and maintain computer systems. This degree program focuses on the integration of hardware and software components to create efficient and effective computer systems.

Computer systems engineers work in a variety of industries, including technology, manufacturing, telecommunications, and defense. They can also work in research and development, creating new and innovative computer systems. The specific tasks of a computer systems engineer vary depending on their industry and job role, but generally they are responsible for designing, developing, and implementing computer systems, troubleshooting and solving technical issues, and ensuring the overall functionality and performance of a computer system.

There is definitely a demand for computer systems engineers in the job market, as technology continues to advance and companies rely on computer systems for their operations. The market for computer hardware and embedded systems design is also growing, as more and more devices become connected and require efficient and reliable systems to operate.

While some companies may specialize in either hardware or software, many require a combination of both. Therefore, a degree in computer systems engineering can provide a well-rounded education and skill set that is valuable in various industries. However, if you are primarily interested in hardware design, an electrical engineering degree may be a better fit. It is important to research and consider your specific interests and goals when deciding on a degree program.
