Physical pain from withdrawl of meds?

In summary, if someone misses 3-4 weeks of their 20mg daily dose of Zyprexa, an anti-psychotic medication, they may experience chest pains that could potentially be serious. It is important to immediately report any chest pain to a physician, rather than waiting for it to go away on its own. This issue falls more under the realm of biology and cardiovascular effects rather than mental health. Thank you for your guidance."

Any chest pain should be immediately reported to a physician! That's one of those things that you don't wait around to see if it goes away on it's own.

Even though the med you're referring to is an anti-psychotic, the real jist of your question is more related to biology and possibly cardiovascular effects than mind & brain, so I'm moving this over there.

What are some common medications that can cause physical pain during withdrawal?

Some common medications that can cause physical pain during withdrawal include antidepressants, opioids, benzodiazepines, and stimulants. These medications work by altering brain chemistry, and when they are suddenly stopped, the brain and body may experience discomfort as they readjust to functioning without the medication.

How long does physical pain from medication withdrawal last?

The duration of physical pain from medication withdrawal varies depending on the individual and the medication being withdrawn from. In general, symptoms may last for a few days to a few weeks, but can sometimes persist for months or longer. It is important to work closely with a medical professional when discontinuing a medication to manage symptoms and ensure a safe and successful withdrawal process.

There are some ways to ease physical pain during medication withdrawal, such as slowly tapering off the medication instead of stopping abruptly, using over-the-counter pain relievers, and engaging in relaxation techniques or physical activities to help manage discomfort. In most cases, physical pain during medication withdrawal is not dangerous.
