our role is to develop solutions for our clients and improve on existing systems.
Sometimes you have to design from absolutely nothing and sometimes we just put together off-the-shelf items to solve a problem. The design engineers is usually involved throughout development: the first step in solving any design problem is determining what the problem really is.
Necessary skills- creativity, drawing, good organising, some team management, and more. I an a technologist so i even manufacture all the stuff i design unless it can't be done in house, the engineers usuall just produce a drawing and hand it to an artisan then they take part when changes should be made.
There's more to it, what you actually do will depend on the industry and company you're in.

1. What is a design engineer and what is their role?

A design engineer is a professional responsible for creating and developing new products, structures, or systems. Their role is to use their knowledge and skills in engineering, mathematics, and science to design and improve products, while also taking into consideration factors such as cost, safety, and functionality.

2. What are the essential skills required for a design engineer?

The essential skills required for a design engineer include strong technical knowledge in engineering principles and design software, creativity and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a team.

3. What are the steps involved in the design engineering process?

The design engineering process typically involves several steps, including research and idea generation, concept development, prototyping and testing, final design, and production. Each step involves different tasks and considerations, and the process may vary depending on the specific project or industry.

4. How do design engineers ensure their designs are safe and functional?

Design engineers use a variety of tools, such as computer-aided design (CAD) software and simulation programs, to create and test their designs before they are brought to production. They also conduct thorough research and analysis to ensure their designs meet safety standards and functional requirements.
