Calculate RH of moist air at higher temp ranges accurately?

In summary, relative humidity (RH) is calculated by taking the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor to the saturation vapor pressure at a specific temperature and expressing the result as a percentage. Accurately calculating RH at higher temperatures is important because it affects various aspects of our daily lives and can be affected by factors such as air pressure, temperature changes, and the source of data used. To ensure accuracy, reliable data and appropriate equations should be used, and common methods include psychrometric charts, Ideal Gas Law equations, and computer software programs.

Calculate RH of moist air at higher temp ranges accurately?

Hey there :)
Im using the Magnus relation for calculating the RH of air (sat pressure the RH) only to find it works good only for temperature ranges upto 100°C (with corrections to original Magnus relation!)
Does anybody know a better method to calculate RH accurately (or thru Psychrometric charts-all charts I found have ranges upto 55°C only)??
Any help is welcome!
Thnx in advance

wet bulb thermometer, dry thermometer and chart. Only way for the average engineer to do it.

1. How is relative humidity (RH) calculated for moist air at higher temperatures?

Relative humidity is calculated by taking the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor in the air to the saturation vapor pressure at that specific temperature and multiplying by 100. The result is then expressed as a percentage.

2. What is the importance of accurately calculating RH at higher temperatures?

Accurately calculating RH at higher temperatures is important because it affects various aspects of our daily lives, such as weather forecasting, agriculture, and indoor air quality. It also plays a crucial role in determining the comfort level and health of humans and animals.

3. What factors can affect the accuracy of RH calculations at higher temperatures?

The accuracy of RH calculations at higher temperatures can be affected by factors such as air pressure, changes in temperature, and the presence of other gases in the air. It is also important to consider the source of the data used in the calculations and the accuracy of the measuring instruments.

4. How can one ensure the accuracy of RH calculations at higher temperatures?

To ensure the accuracy of RH calculations at higher temperatures, it is important to use reliable and accurate data, such as temperature and water vapor pressure measurements, from reputable sources. It is also crucial to use appropriate equations and formulas and to double-check the calculations for any errors.

5. What are some common methods used to calculate RH at higher temperatures accurately?

Some common methods used to calculate RH at higher temperatures accurately include the use of psychrometric charts, equations based on the Ideal Gas Law, and computer software programs. These methods take into account various factors such as temperature, pressure, and humidity to provide accurate results.
