Nonlinear ODE's versus "Statistics".

Hi all,
My university offers a course on Probability followed by a more theoretical course on Statistics (not sure how standardized the names are).

They also offer a nonlinear ODE course.

From a physics major's point of view, which subject is harder to learn on my own? More advanced statistics or nonlinear ODE's? I want to know which one I should get the "professional" education on and which one I can pick up after a couple months of self study.

I am assuming the statistics course will involve more unfamiliar theoretical stuff, so I'm leaning towards that.
