Breivik's manifesto: Literal copying of UNA Bomber Manifesto

In summary: Execution:This is an extreme option, but it has been used in cases of extreme terrorist threats. In Norway, the maximum punishment for terrorism is life imprisonment, so if Breivik was found guilty of terrorism, he could theoretically be executed. In summary, Breivik has substituted the orginal's "leftists/leftism" with "cultural marxists/marxism" instead. It has surfaced that several chunks of Mr. Breivik's manifesto are literal copies of Ted Kascynskis manifesto, where Mr. Breivik has substituted the orginal's "leftists/leftism" with "cultural marxists/marxism" instead.

It has surfaced that several chunks of Mr. Breiviks manifesto are literal copies of Ted Kascynskis manifesto, where Mr. Breivik has substituted the orginal's "leftists/leftism" with "cultural marxists/marxism" instead.

An example (there are many more), from the website document.no that published this news:

Unabomber:

"8. Even so, our conception of leftism will remain a good deal less clear than we would wish, but there doesn’t seem to be any remedy for this. All we are trying to do is indicate in a rough and approximate way the two psychological tendencies that we believe are the main driving force of modern leftism. We by no means claim to be telling the WHOLE truth about leftist psychology. Also, our discussion is meant to apply to modern leftism only. We leave open the question of the extent to which our discussion could be applied to the leftists of the 19th and early 20th century.

9. The two psychological tendencies that underlie modern leftism we call “feelings of inferiority” and “oversocialization.” Feelings of inferiority are characteristic of modern leftism as a whole, while oversocialization is characteristic only of a certain segment of modern leftism; but this segment is highly influential."
-----------------------------------------------------
Behring Breivik:

"Our conception of cultural Marxists will remain a good deal less clear than we would wish, but there doesn’t seem to be any remedy for this. All we are trying to do is indicate in a rough and approximate way the two psychological tendencies that we believe are the main driving force of modern multiculturalism. We by no means claim to be telling the WHOLE truth about cultural Marxist psychology. Also, our discussion is meant to apply to modern cultural Marxists only.

The two psychological tendencies that underlie cultural Marxists we call “feelings of inferiority” and “over-socialisation.” Feelings of inferiority are characteristic of cultural Marxism as a whole, while over-socialisation is characteristic only of a certain segment of cultural Marxism; but this segment is highly influential."

So he didn't even have original thoughts. My fear is that this atrocity will fuel even more mentally unstable people to attempt similar acts.

PZ Myers has http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2011/07/a_glimpse_into_the_deranged_mi.php (not that the rest of it isn't also crazy). This guy seems to want to make an organisation with achievements, ranks and such who can fight through Europe. It reads so much like a video game it sickens me.

Ugh, now this monster is going to ruin Lux Aeterna for me. I used to really like that song, but I can't listen to it knowing that's what he was playing as he was butchering kids.

Apparently there is a sympathetic group.

Breivik has redefined the meaning of insane. How could someone this delusional remain unnoticed?

I would be really interested to see what medical professionals say about him when he is examined. Is he delusional as in mentally ill or is he perfectly healthy but with evil ideas?

I was just thinking about that. Obviously he's not mentally incompetant. While I think of someone doing this as insane, he thought this out in great detail, he's really no different than the crusaders he wishes to emulate, IMO. They set out to kill people for their *righteous* cause.

Okay, right now, Professor of Law, Ståle Eskeland had a clear outlining of the distinct possible ways how Breivik can be kept behind bars:

1. If psychiatric expertise determines that he is not criminally culpable due to insanity, he can (will) be sentenced to involuntary detention at a psychiatric institution. Such an institution has full powers to keep him locked away for his whole life.

2a) Regular prison sentence:
This has a maximum of 21 years, and can NOT be extended.

2b) Alternative ruling of confinement:
This ALSO has a regular maximum of 21 years, BUT it is extendable (beyond those 21 years) for continuous 5-year periods, at end of each period a re-evaluation must take place whether to release him or keep him locked up.

The problem with this option is that a mental hospital does not have the security necessary to prevent escape like a prison would. It's not a realistically safe option for the public.

Also, unlike a criminal that acts alone, there are likely people that would want to assist in getting him out.

There is no law I know of that lmits the type of security measures you CAN implement for "special cases".

If I should hazard a guess, Breivik will be placed under constant 24/7 surveillance for his entire imprisoned life, whatever the financial costs.

The politicians won't dare to to leave even the slightest possibility for this guy's release or escape.

Or, if they DO seem unvigilant, it will be a public uproar.

1. What is "Breivik's manifesto"?

"Breivik's manifesto" refers to the written document produced by Anders Behring Breivik, a Norwegian far-right extremist who carried out a series of bombings and mass shootings in Norway in 2011. The manifesto is titled "2083: A European Declaration of Independence" and outlines Breivik's extremist beliefs and motivations for his actions.

2. What is the connection between "Breivik's manifesto" and the UNA Bomber Manifesto?

The UNA Bomber Manifesto, also known as "Industrial Society and Its Future", was written by Theodore Kaczynski, an American domestic terrorist who carried out a series of bombings in the United States in the 1970s and 1980s. Breivik's manifesto contains extensive passages and ideas that are directly copied from the UNA Bomber Manifesto, leading some to label Breivik's manifesto as a "literal copying" of Kaczynski's work.

3. Why did Breivik copy the UNA Bomber Manifesto in his own manifesto?

Breivik has stated that he sees Kaczynski as a role model and was inspired by his ideas. He also believed that by including passages from the UNA Bomber Manifesto in his own work, he would lend more credibility to his own beliefs and actions.

4. Are there any other sources that Breivik's manifesto may have been influenced by?

Aside from the UNA Bomber Manifesto, Breivik's manifesto also contains references to other far-right and anti-immigrant ideologies, such as the writings of Bat Ye'or and Fjordman. However, the majority of the manifesto is directly copied from the UNA Bomber Manifesto.

5. How has the inclusion of the UNA Bomber Manifesto in Breivik's manifesto been received by the public?

The inclusion of the UNA Bomber Manifesto in Breivik's manifesto has been met with criticism and condemnation. Many see it as evidence of Breivik's extremist and dangerous beliefs, while others see it as a disturbing example of how extremist ideologies can spread and influence others. It has also sparked debates about the impact of online radicalization and the responsibility of platforms that host such content.
