In summary, the purpose of Type Math & Formulas on Forum: Guide is to provide a comprehensive guide for properly formatting and displaying mathematical equations and formulas on online forums. No special software or skills are required, as most forums have built-in tools for basic formatting. The guide covers all types of math and formulas, but it's important to check each forum's guidelines for any limitations. While equations and formulas should display correctly for most users, it's always a good idea to preview before submitting. There may also be limitations on the amount of math and formulas that can be used, depending on the forum.

Hi lolimcool!

See the thread https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=386951

Basically, say you want to display [itex]\sqrt{2}[/itex]. Then you need to find the correct formula for sqrt, and that is \sqrt{...} and then you need to type it between [ itex ] ... [ /itex] tags (without spaces).
Thus, we should type [ itex ]\sqrt{2}[ /itex ].

Another example; [ itex ]\frac{1}{2}\in \mathbb{Q}[ /itex ] yields [itex]\frac{1}{2}\in \mathbb{Q}[/itex].
