Extra-Terrestrial Life Discovered in Outer Space

In summary, a team of Russian experts discovered traces of sea plankton and microscopic particles on the outside of the International Space Station during a routine cleaning. However, the claims have been met with skepticism from NASA and a Forbes article debunks the idea of thriving sea plankton in space. The German Aerospace Center has also released a statement supporting the original report. It is unclear if this was the first cleaning of the surface and the article does not mention the cleaning schedule. This could be a propaganda move by Russia.

At least according to this article, https://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/world/24765825/extra-terrestrial-life-discovered-in-outer-space/

The team of Russian experts stumbled across the startling find during a routine cleaning and polishing mission of the outside surface of the ISS.

"We have found traces of sea plankton and microscopic particles on the illuminator surface.”

An interesting find, to say the least!

I'm not sure why they conclude that the organisms drifted to the upper atmosphere as opposed to being deposited on the surface whilst on Earth and transported up there.

Was this the first cleaning of the surface?
Regular cleaning would rule out contamination from the surface.
Article does really talk about the cleaning schedule.

Forbes article about Russia ISS claims

Sorry to mods if this is still not appropriate, but here is a Forbes article seemingly debunking some claims released by chief of the Russian ISS orbital mission Vladimir Solovyev regarding "sea plankton" found outside ISS. Propaganda move on Russia's part?

Forbes article

You’ve probably seen the fantastical headlines flying around social media or the web this week that Russian cosmonauts have reported discovering traces of sea plankton living on the exterior of the International Space Station, exposed to the harsh, airless vacuum of space. The only problem is that the Russians’ American ISS roommates from NASA don’t seem to agree with the assessment that there’s some sort of microscopic space barnacles clinging to their orbiting home.

1. Is there any evidence of extraterrestrial life in outer space?

There is currently no definitive evidence of extraterrestrial life in outer space. However, there have been several potential signs, such as the discovery of microbial life on Mars and the presence of organic molecules on Saturn's moon Enceladus.

2. How would we detect extraterrestrial life in outer space?

There are several methods scientists use to detect extraterrestrial life, including searching for biosignatures such as the presence of certain gases in a planet's atmosphere, looking for patterns in radio signals, and analyzing data from space probes or rovers.

3. What kind of life could exist in outer space?

It is uncertain what kind of life could exist in outer space, as we have only studied life on Earth. However, scientists have proposed the possibility of microbial life or even intelligent beings in other parts of the universe.

4. How would the discovery of extraterrestrial life impact humanity?

The discovery of extraterrestrial life would likely have a significant impact on humanity, both scientifically and culturally. It could provide insight into the origins of life and our place in the universe, as well as raise questions about the potential for communication and interaction with other forms of life.

5. Are we actively searching for extraterrestrial life in outer space?

Yes, scientists and organizations such as NASA are actively searching for extraterrestrial life through various missions and projects. These efforts include sending probes and rovers to other planets, analyzing data from telescopes and satellites, and developing new technologies to aid in the search for extraterrestrial life.
