I'm just finishing my first year at community college, and I'll be there again in the fall and winter. After cc, I'll be transferring to a university to major in astrophysics. I'm taking physics and calculus at my cc, so I want some supplementary reading for the summer and after. Any good books on astrophysics I should be reading--either general or specific?

Hi!

With some background in mathematics and physics (basic, but slightly more than high school) I would suggest 'An introduction to modern astrophysics' by Carroll and Ostlie. It's a very comprehensive review of almost all areas of astrophysics, very well written and affordable. This will cover the astrophysics you will encounter in your first two or three years..
