Another Wave Length question

In summary, "Another Wave Length question" is a phenomenon in which two waves with the same frequency and amplitude overlap, resulting in a new wave with a different wavelength. This can be observed in both sound and light waves and has various applications in science and technology, including medical imaging and telecommunications. It is also present in nature, such as in the beautiful patterns created by sunlight passing through thin films.

Lights with wavelengths of 520 nm and 630 nm passess through a diffraction grating that contains 6000 lines/cm or 600000 lines/m

what is the lowest value of m for which the 520 nm line no longer exists?

where do i start with this...

Do you know any equations relating to diffraction gratings?

  • #4
sin theta(m) = m(wavelength)/ d

Well all you have to do is find out how many orders you can get for that wavelength. You know when it disappears when [tex] \theta_m [/tex] is greater than 90 degrees.

thank you very much..

1. What is "Another Wave Length question"?

Another Wave Length question refers to the phenomenon in which two waves with the same frequency and amplitude overlap and create a new wave with a different wavelength. This is known as wave interference and is commonly seen in physics and everyday life.

2. How does "Another Wave Length question" affect sound and light waves?

When two sound or light waves with the same frequency and amplitude overlap, they can either interfere constructively, resulting in a new wave with a higher amplitude, or destructively, resulting in a new wave with a lower amplitude. This is the basis for many technologies, such as noise-cancelling headphones and diffraction gratings.

3. Can "Another Wave Length question" be observed in nature?

Yes, wave interference can be observed in nature in various forms. For example, when sunlight passes through a thin film of oil on water, the different wavelengths of light interfere with each other, creating the beautiful rainbow-like patterns seen on the surface.

4. How is "Another Wave Length question" used in science and technology?

Wave interference is utilized in many scientific and technological fields, including acoustics, optics, and telecommunications. It allows for the manipulation and control of waves to achieve specific outcomes, such as amplification, cancellation, and filtering.

5. Are there any real-life applications of "Another Wave Length question"?

Yes, there are numerous real-life applications of wave interference. One example is in medical imaging, where sound waves are used to create images of internal structures in the body. Another is in radio and television broadcasting, where different wavelengths are used to transmit different signals simultaneously without interference.
