Power radiated by a sound source

In summary, the conversation is about the calculation of power radiated by a source emitting sound waves through a circular opening. The intensity of sound at the opening is given and using the formula for intensity, the power is calculated. The questioner confirms if the calculation is correct, to which the expert responds that it is a simple and basic calculation.

Sir,
A loud speaker having a circular opening of diameter 20 cm is emitting sound waves uniformly. The intensity of sound at the opening is 0.2 milli watt/m^2. What is the power radiated by the source?
I solved it in the following way:
Intensity = power/Area
Here Area = (pi)R^2
= 3.14 x 0.01
= 0.0314 m^2
Power = 0.2 x 0.0314 milli watts
= 6.28 x 10^(-6) watts
Is it right?

Amith, No one is responding to this because it is trivial. You are saying:

A/B = x

And then asking:

Does A = Bx?

This is hardly advanced physics.

I think what he is saying is:

Does A/B = x ? In other words, does A = bx ??

What is power radiated by a sound source?

Power radiated by a sound source is the measure of the rate at which sound energy is emitted from an object or source. It is typically expressed in watts (W) or decibels (dB).

How is power radiated by a sound source measured?

Power radiated by a sound source can be measured using specialized instruments such as a sound level meter or a microphone. These instruments measure the intensity or pressure of the sound waves and use mathematical calculations to determine the power.

What factors affect the power radiated by a sound source?

The power radiated by a sound source can be affected by several factors, including the size and shape of the source, the type of material it is made of, and the amount of energy being input into the source. Environmental factors such as temperature and humidity can also have an impact on the power radiated.

Why is power radiated by a sound source important?

The power radiated by a sound source is important because it helps us understand the strength and intensity of the sound being emitted. It also plays a crucial role in determining the potential impact of the sound on the surrounding environment and living organisms.

How can power radiated by a sound source be controlled or reduced?

To control or reduce the power radiated by a sound source, measures can be taken such as using sound-absorbing materials around the source, reducing the energy input, or adjusting the size and shape of the source. Environmental factors can also be managed to minimize the power radiated by a sound source.
