Program for downloading google books

In summary, there are several programs available for downloading Google books, including one in the "tools" menu on the site and another called gutenbergpress. However, some users have noticed that Google Books may be focusing more on making money than providing free downloads. There is also a program called Google Book Downloader, but its legality may vary depending on local laws.

If they are downloadable, there is an option in the "tools" menu (click the icon that looks like a gear-wheel at the top right of the screen).

But IMO google books seems to have quietly changed its objective from "digitizing the world's out-of-copyright literature for free download" to "making money for google as a bookseller's advertising site".

I know about:
http://book.huhiho.com/

But do not feel confident whether its legal in your jurisdiction. Under Polish law it's OK within "dozwolony użytek" (fair use).

Yes, there are several programs available for downloading Google books. Some popular options include Google Books Downloader, FSS Google Books Downloader, and EDS Google Books Downloader. These programs allow you to easily download Google books in various formats, such as PDF or EPUB, for offline reading. It is important to note that downloading copyrighted material from Google books may be illegal and it is always best to check the terms of use before downloading any content.

1. How does the program for downloading Google Books work?

The program uses web scraping techniques to retrieve the HTML code of the desired book from Google Books. It then parses the code to extract the book's information and downloads the corresponding PDF or EPUB file.

2. Is the program legal to use?

It depends on the terms of service of Google Books. If the website allows users to download books for personal use, then the program can be considered legal. However, if the website explicitly prohibits downloading, then the program would be considered a violation of their terms.

3. Can I download any book from Google Books using this program?

No, the program can only download books that are available for free on Google Books. Books that are copyrighted or require payment cannot be downloaded using this program.

4. Are there any risks associated with using this program?

There is a risk that the program may not work correctly or may cause errors on your computer. Additionally, if the program violates the terms of service of Google Books, there is a possibility of legal consequences.

5. Can I modify the program for my own use?

Yes, you can modify the program for personal use. However, redistributing or selling the modified program may be a violation of copyright laws.
