What "intellectual" TV channel do you enjoy the most?

Its a tie between National Geographic and Science channel. Sometimes Discovery Times channel shows you some very interesting antropological programs, and sometimes you get to see interesting military stuff on The Military Channel

It's pretty close between the History Channel & the Science Channel, since I could only pick one, I went with the Science Channel, some of the programs on The History Channel aren't too interesting.

But I'm not a big TV watcher anyway, since I spend my evenings after work either in class or studying. Every once in a while there is something I really want to see and someone will record the program for me. My boss was nice enough to record the National Geographic "Extraterrestrial" program for me.

Hey, why isn't the Sci-Fi Channel on the list. Star Gate (SGI, Atlantis), Battlestar Galatica, Star trek, etc are very educational programs. :tongue2:

Also, G4Tech should be classified retarded to the 10th power. There is nothing intellectual about the channel.

I can't pick just one. It just depends on the programs being aired and the subject matter. I also watch a lot of PBS.

I had to go with National Geographic. Animal Planet is what I watch most, I don't seem to learn much from it, but the AWWWWWW factor of Animal Babies makes me all smiley

I like the Military Channel the most...with exceptions. Both that and the Discovery Channel have been recently showing some programs that no one obviously checked their facts.

If I watch TV, which is extremely rare, I would watch PBS, or perhaps National Geographic, or TLC for a specific program. I have way too many tasks to accomplish, places and people to visit, and books to read. Ah, life is full and overflowing.

The problem I have with most media is the fact that the report are journalists, not scientists, so some of the time the facts or information are misinterpreted or misunderstood. And then some scientists or technical people exaggerate or sometimes oversimplify the science or technology.

Discovery Channel is my favorite. Myth busters, Extreme Engineering, Disaster Detectives all godo shows. IM really gettin sick of these shows about motorcyles and hot rods seems like they get majority of teh air time. Anyone see that special about the MIT Black Jack Team. They use math and devised a method to beat the casinos!

I agree. PBS offers the broadest spectrum of intelligent, informative programming. From NOVA, Nature, and National Geographic to Mystery, Antique Roadshow, history specials, Lehrer, great dramas, current event documentaries, biographies, live concerts . . . my favorite single channel.

Heck yah, mythbusters is awesome. I love modern marvels on history channel too. And yes, I'm sick of these hot rod crap shows too! Ok, they are fast and sweet, but we don't need 10 shows about them.

I probably enjoy the History Channel the most. I also like the Court TV channel. They have documentaries on old court cases. I once saw a documentary on big bank heists which included a contest where they assembled teams of people to try to recreate the heists by breaking through the security systems and trying to get away without being identified. I'm pretty sure that was on Court TV. Then there was the documentary on the Secret Service and their Conterfiting/Forgery Analysis lab, and others on forensics and so forth. Mostly it's just court cases though.

Not much time to watch the TV in the first place, but PBS is pretty much the only thing that is decent to watch amongst all of the reality shows that clutter all of the networks.

Been far too busy in the first place though to watch TV, or even the news. I won't know if a hurricane hits until it lands right over me.

I love any science program I can find. There used to be some good programs on A&E and Discovery, but they are showing a lot of junk now. Even the History channel shows infomercials late at night.

But I grew up with PBS and haven't spent much time checking out the others.

Hubby and I play a "name that narrator" game on PBS. Michael Dorn is a fun one to identify, as is Richard Attenborough. Shatner and Nimoy are too obvious, get a bit of a groan when we hear them doing yet another narration.
