This is also very vague. The type of detector one uses depends on what is being detected, and what are the parameters that one cares about the most. There is NO one single detector that is perfect for every single detection. The detector to detect light from neutrino interaction in a water cerenkov tank requires a type of light detector different than a signal coming from PET scans!
