So, a compound is a substance made up of two or more atoms of different elements chemically bonded together with a fixed ratio determining the composition. This means that the elements in a compound are always present in the same proportion.

Only 3 statements are correct.
A.) Water is a compound and exist as molecules at rtp.
B.) Magnesium chloride is a molecule but not a compound.
C.) At rtp, nitrogen exist as diatomic molecules.
D.) Rubidium Oxide is a compound but not considered a molecule.
E.) Oxygen gas is classified as a compound as it is composed of molecules at rtp.

pick out 3 correct statements. i pick A, C and E.
am i correct?

what's the different between compound and molecule?

thanks lotsa.

What do think the difference is? How do you define a compound? How do you define a molecule?

molecule is two or more atom together.
then, compound is consist of atoms of two or more different elements?

Yes, two or more atoms chemically bonded together
compound is consist of atoms of two or more different elements?
This is the defintion of a mixture, to make it the defintion of a compound to need to add the words "with a fixed ratio determining the composition"

1. What is the difference between a compound and a molecule?

A compound is a substance made up of two or more different elements chemically combined. A molecule is the smallest unit of a compound that retains the chemical properties of that compound. In other words, compounds are made of molecules.

2. Can you give an example of a compound and a molecule?

Water (H2O) is a compound made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The individual units of water, H2O molecules, are bonded together to form the larger compound. Another example is carbon dioxide (CO2), which is a compound made up of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. The individual units of carbon dioxide, CO2 molecules, are bonded together to form the larger compound.

3. How are compounds and molecules different from elements?

Elements are the simplest form of matter and cannot be broken down into simpler substances. Compounds and molecules are made up of two or more elements chemically combined. In other words, they are a combination of elements.

4. Can compounds and molecules exist in different states of matter?

Yes, compounds and molecules can exist in solid, liquid, and gas states. For example, water (H2O) can exist as ice (solid), liquid water, and water vapor (gas), depending on the temperature and pressure.

5. Is it possible for a compound to have only one molecule?

Yes, it is possible for a compound to have only one molecule. This is known as a monatomic compound, which is made up of only one type of atom. An example of a monatomic compound is neon (Ne), which is a gas made up of single neon atoms.
