Good book covering the field of nanotechnology

In summary, members of the forum recommended searching for nanotechnology papers on websites like arxiv.org and nanotechnology.com, as well as reading books like "The Most Beautiful Molecule" and "Pleasure of Finding Things Out." One member suggested buying an iPod nano as a first step. Another recommended "Introduction to NANOTECHNOLOGY" by Charles P Poole Jr and Frank J OWENS.

go to arxiv.org and start searching for nanotech papers. Start reading. Look up anything you don't understand.

Try 'The Most Beautiful Molecule' and if you want something that goes into the elementary (early) ideas, pick up a copy of 'Pleasure of Finding Things Out', one of the lectures in the book goes into fitting all 24 volumes of Encylcopedia Brittanica on the head of a pin.

If you find a good one, please reply on this thread (wherever it ends up). Edit: Here are two websites you might checkout (www.nanotechnology.com) & (www.foresight.org) - you might be able to start from there.

Hmm, I would think that the first step would be to actually buy the ipod nano.

I suggest "Introduction to NANOTECHNOLOGY" from Charles P Poole Jr and Frank J OWENS. It has served me well:wink:

What is nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology is the study and manipulation of matter on an extremely small scale, typically at the nanometer level (1 nanometer = 1 billionth of a meter). It involves the use of techniques and tools to control and create materials, devices, and systems with novel properties and functions.

How is nanotechnology used in everyday life?

Nanotechnology has various applications in everyday life, such as in electronics, medicine, energy production, and consumer products. For example, it is used in the production of smaller and more powerful computer chips, targeted drug delivery systems, and stronger and lighter materials for sports equipment and vehicles.

What are the potential risks of nanotechnology?

There are concerns about the potential risks of nanotechnology, including the release of nanoparticles into the environment and their potential toxicity to living organisms. However, extensive research is being conducted to understand and mitigate these risks.

What are the current limitations of nanotechnology?

One of the major limitations of nanotechnology is the difficulty in controlling and manipulating matter at the nanoscale. This can hinder the development of certain applications and make the production of nanomaterials challenging and expensive.

What does the future hold for nanotechnology?

The future of nanotechnology is promising, with ongoing research and development in various fields. It is expected to revolutionize many industries and lead to the development of new and advanced technologies, such as nanorobots for targeted drug delivery and nanosensors for environmental monitoring.
