Volt-second balance in DC converter coil design?

Hi everyone,

I working on the design of a small DC converter coil with a step up ratio of about 1:8.
I have been told I need to ensure I maintain a volt-second balance on all windings but I'm not exactly sure what was meant by that.

Do I just need to make sure each winding stays below saturation?
