Vector addition analytical & component method

In summary, DeeD was supposed to fill out a homework template that asked for relevant equations and an attempt at solving the problem. From the Physics Forums guidelines, cheating is not allowed and anyone seeking help must first show effort in solving the problem. Any and all assistance given to homework assignments or textbook style exercises should be given after the questioner has shown some effort in solving the problem. If no attempt is made then the questioner should be asked to provide one before any assistance is given.

hello everyone I am just new here i need help with my homework

here's the problem

A cross skier skis 7.40 km in the direction 45° east of south then 2.80 km in the direction 30.0° north of east and finally 5.20 km in the direction 22.0° west of north . Find the resultant vector using analytical and component method.

ty in advance

DeeD, you were supposed to fill out the homework template that asked you to list the relevant equations and show an attempt at solving the problem.

From the Physics Forums guidelines:
Homework Help:
On posting questions: Any and all high school and undergraduate homework assignments or textbook style exercises for which you are seeking assistance are to be posted in the appropriate forum in our Homework & Coursework Questions area--not in blogs, visitor messages, PMs, or the main technical forums. This should be done whether the problem is part of one's assigned coursework or just independent study. The reason for this is that the scientific and mathematical sections of Physics Forums are to be reserved for discussions and not academic assistance. Since graduate level assignments are meant to be more thought provoking (and hence more worthy of discussion), graduate level questions will be allowed in the relevant part of the main section of PF, provided that the graduate student attempts the problem and shows his work. NOTE: You MUST show that you have attempted to answer your question in order to receive help. You MUST make use of the homework template, which automatically appears when a new topic is created in the homework help forums.

We do not support cheating in any form: Do not ask for solution manuals, answers to exams, or instructor's manuals. Every school and instructor has their own policies or honor codes on what constitutes cheating, and it is up to the individual student to adhere to those policies when seeking help here. If you are in doubt as to whether you are permitted to seek help, consider erring on the side of caution and not asking for help.

On helping with questions: Any and all assistance given to homework assignments or textbook style exercises should be given only after the questioner has shown some effort in solving the problem. If no attempt is made then the questioner should be asked to provide one before any assistance is given. Under no circumstances should complete solutions be provided to a questioner, whether or not an attempt has been made.

1. What is vector addition through the analytical method?

The analytical method of vector addition involves using trigonometric functions and coordinates to determine the magnitude and direction of a resultant vector.

2. How do you find the components of a vector using the analytical method?

The components of a vector can be found by using the magnitude and direction of the vector to calculate its horizontal and vertical components using trigonometric functions.

3. What is the difference between the analytical and graphical methods of vector addition?

The analytical method uses mathematical calculations and coordinates to determine the resultant vector, while the graphical method involves drawing the vectors to scale and using the head-to-tail method to find the resultant vector.

4. Can you use the analytical method for vectors in 3-dimensional space?

Yes, the analytical method can be used for vectors in any number of dimensions, as long as the coordinates and trigonometric functions are adjusted accordingly.

5. What are some real-world applications of vector addition using the component method?

Vector addition using the component method is used in fields such as physics, engineering, and navigation to determine the net forces acting on an object, the displacement of an object, and the direction and magnitude of a given force or velocity.
