In summary: Thanks for sharing it. In summary, the author believes that liberals should be supporting President Bush instead of vilifying him, and that he is doing a lousy job.

"Anybody But Bush"

Rumsfeld/Ashcroft 2004
By Daryl L. Hunter

At the Albertson's stop light the other day I saw a bumper sticker that read "Anybody But Bush" and it got me to thinking. Although I support George Bush and Dick Cheney there is always room for improvement. After all The Bush education plan was written by Edward Kennedy, his prescription drug plan is a socialistic Lyndon Johnson like boondoggle, his effort to drill in ANWR for the oil we need seems a little limp wristed, and his failure to replace foreign oil with domestic ethanol by 2015 is irresponsible, and federalizing airport security borders on insanity.

Rumsfeld/Ashcroft 2004

Oops, forgot the last line:

Reflecting upon these transgressions/comprimizes makes me wonder if a Rumsfeld/Ashcroft presidential ticket might be the answer to the "Anybody But Bush" dilemma.

ashcroft is one of the worst parts of the admin!

Every part of this admin needs to go. I don't love John Kerry, but I have taken up advocating for him because, in the words of one famous person, "the house is on fire".

yeah, like when he tries to ban gay marriage, he becomes god. When he is doing a lousy job, he becomes liberal
:uhh:

But maybe, just maybe, Bush is the best the Republican has to offer

Let's see: erroding the Bill of Rights, calling for a Constitutional amendment to ban homosexual marriage, allowing big business to ruin the environment because he's in bed with with industry, supporting trade agreements that benefit large multinational corporations while screwing over just about everyone else...Yes, a liberal's dream...

1. What was the "Rumsfeld/Ashcroft 2004" campaign all about?

The "Rumsfeld/Ashcroft 2004" campaign was a hypothetical alternative to George W. Bush's re-election bid in the 2004 United States presidential election. It proposed former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and former Attorney General John Ashcroft as a potential ticket for the Republican Party.

2. Why were Rumsfeld and Ashcroft chosen as potential candidates?

Rumsfeld and Ashcroft were both prominent figures in the Bush administration at the time, with Rumsfeld serving as Secretary of Defense from 2001-2006 and Ashcroft serving as Attorney General from 2001-2005. They were seen as experienced and well-known individuals who could potentially lead the country in a different direction.

3. How did the public react to the idea of Rumsfeld and Ashcroft running for president?

The idea of Rumsfeld and Ashcroft as potential candidates received mixed reactions from the public. Some saw it as a refreshing change from the current administration, while others criticized their roles in controversial policies such as the Iraq War and the Patriot Act.

No, the Rumsfeld/Ashcroft 2004 campaign was never officially launched. It was primarily a concept proposed by political commentators and media outlets as a potential alternative to the Bush/Cheney ticket.

5. Did Rumsfeld and Ashcroft ever express interest in running for president?

There is no evidence that Rumsfeld and Ashcroft ever expressed interest in running for president in 2004. Both men retired from their positions in the Bush administration and did not pursue any further political ambitions.
