In summary, the conversation is discussing a boxing match where one boxer was knocked out and the TV commentator compared it to Jackson Pollock. There is confusion over the meaning of this comparison and the logic behind it. It is revealed that Jackson Pollock was an abstract expressionist painter known for his unconventional painting techniques, which involved throwing paint onto a canvas. Some speculate that the commentator may have meant the boxer hit the canvas like Pollock's paintings. The conversation also touches on the possibility of bloodstains in the boxing ring resembling a Pollock painting.

Like Jackson Pollock (!?)

"He hit the campus like Jackson Pollock".
Said the TV commentator when one boxer was KO-ed last night.
Anybody heard that before, what kind of saying is that, what's the logic behind it?
If I don't mistake J.Pollock was a well known abstract expressionist painter, but what does that has to do with martial arts??

Could it be he hit the canvas like Jackson Pollock? Still weird, but makes more sense when you think of how awful Pollock is. It's more like abusing or violating the canvas than hitting it though.

It could be that I didn't hear correctly becouse he was screaming.

Jackson Pollock was famous for creating paintings where he literally just threw tins of paint at a canvas and would "paint" with his hands and arms and feet. If you google his name and look at some of the images I'm sure many of them will be of his paintings.

Perhaps he means Pollock's canvases are bloodied and broken?

Did anyone notice the bloodstains all over the floor of the boxing ring?
