Functional differentiation and integration

In summary, the speaker is looking for a more mathematically rigorous introduction to the functional approach to quantization in QFT that is still readable for physicists. They have received a recommendation for a book by Folland but have not read it themselves.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to study the functional approach to quantization in QFT. The QFT books seem to often "sweep things under the rug" and not be too rigorous when it comes to issues like integral convergence, and the like. So I was wondering if there was a more mathematically rigorous introduction to this field of mathematics that would still be readable to a physicist like me (so it can't be super mathy...if you know what I mean... or if it's really mathy, at least it has to introduce all the necessary concepts that someone would need to understand the material).

Thanks.

What is functional differentiation and integration?

Functional differentiation and integration is a concept in systems thinking that refers to the organization and coordination of different functions within a complex system. It involves identifying the different components or parts of a system and understanding how they work together to maintain the overall function of the system.

Why is functional differentiation and integration important?

Functional differentiation and integration are important because they help us understand how complex systems function and how different components interact with each other. This knowledge can be applied to various fields, such as biology, sociology, and economics, to better understand and improve systems and processes.

What are some examples of functional differentiation and integration?

Some examples of functional differentiation and integration include the different organs in the human body working together to maintain bodily functions, the different departments in a company working together to achieve business goals, and the different species in an ecosystem interacting to maintain balance.

How does functional differentiation and integration relate to systems thinking?

Functional differentiation and integration are key concepts in systems thinking, as they help us understand how different parts of a system work together to maintain the overall function of the system. Systems thinking involves looking at the big picture and understanding the interconnections and relationships between different components or parts of a system.

What are some challenges in achieving functional differentiation and integration?

Some challenges in achieving functional differentiation and integration include understanding the complexity of a system, identifying all the different components and their functions, and finding ways to effectively coordinate and integrate these functions. Communication and collaboration among different parts of the system are also important for successful functional differentiation and integration.
