Why haven't cosmology and philosophy been formerly combined? They both deal with the beginning of the universe and what it happened, at least one certain field of philosophy.
So why not?
So why not?

And with the study of nature and the universe. Scientific methods proved to be very effective in the study of nature and the universe; that's why science has become its own subfield of philosophy. That philosophers are also interested in these other topics simply means that philosophy cannot be considered a subfield of science. :tongue:Moridin said:Philosophy deals with metaphysics, ethics, epistemology etc. Science does not.

Cosmology is the study of the origin, evolution, and structure of the universe. It involves understanding the fundamental laws of physics and how they govern the behavior of the universe on a large scale.
Cosmology and philosophy are closely related as both seek to understand the nature of the universe and our place within it. Philosophy raises questions about the meaning and purpose of the universe, while cosmology provides scientific explanations for its physical properties.
Cosmology has greatly impacted our understanding of the universe by providing evidence for the Big Bang theory, the existence of dark matter and energy, and the concept of an expanding universe. It also allows us to explore the possibility of other universes and the potential for life beyond Earth.
Scientific advancements have played a crucial role in both cosmology and philosophy by providing new evidence and theories to help us better understand the universe. They also allow us to challenge and revise previous beliefs and expand our knowledge and understanding of the cosmos.
Some current debates in cosmology and philosophy include the nature of time and space, the existence of multiple universes, and the origin of the universe. Other topics of discussion include the role of consciousness in the universe and the ethical implications of space exploration and potential contact with extraterrestrial life.
