Curious about Petroleum Engineering

If there are any petroleum engineers on here, or people with experience in petroleum engineering, I would like to ask a few questions:

1-What are the working conditions like? I'm especially interested in what the "on-site" conditions are like, when you're working week on/week off at a drilling site.

2-I've read the average salaries for a petroleum engineer, and the low end is about 98k per year. Realistically, there's no way you can make that much right out of college, so I'd like to ask: what can a recent PE graduate realistically expect to make? I'm guessing you don't get the "petroleum engineer" job title right away.
