Canon has a real good user group discussion forum:http://forums.powershot-a.com/ [Broken]
You'll find all kinds of picture taking tips and info there.

I've got a Canon Powershot A70, these are great cameras for the $

Here are some of the pics I've taken with the Canon A70. Some of the older
photos were taken with a Minolta X-700 SLR, outdoor/nature stuff.

Here's a pic of the Philly skyline I took with my new Canon 3100 digital from the top of an apartment building across from the art museum.

I really appreciated Blank Stare - found the expression delightfully inscrutable.

1. What type of camera should I buy as a beginner?

As a beginner, it's best to start with a basic DSLR or mirrorless camera that allows you to manually adjust settings such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. These types of cameras will give you more control over your photos and allow you to learn the fundamentals of photography.

2. What are some essential accessories for beginners?

Some essential accessories for beginners include a tripod, extra batteries and memory cards, a camera bag, and a remote shutter release. These items will help you capture better photos and keep your gear organized and protected.

3. How do I improve my composition skills?

To improve your composition skills, try practicing the "rule of thirds" where you imagine your photo divided into thirds both horizontally and vertically. Place your subject or points of interest where the lines intersect for a more visually appealing composition. You can also experiment with different angles, perspectives, and framing techniques to add interest to your photos.

4. What are some beginner-friendly resources for learning photography?

Some great resources for beginners include online tutorials, YouTube channels, photography forums, and local photography classes or workshops. These can provide you with tips, tricks, and feedback from experienced photographers to help you improve your skills.

5. How do I take better photos in low light situations?

To take better photos in low light, you can try increasing your ISO, using a wider aperture, or using a tripod to avoid camera shake. You can also try using a flash or external lighting source to add more light to your photos. Experimenting with different settings and techniques will help you find the best solution for your specific lighting situation.
