A password with 8 characters, consisting of Upper case/Lower Case &0-9

In summary, choosing a password with 8 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters, can provide a high level of security with millions of possible combinations. However, it is still important to consider the strength of the password and the limitations of different systems.

Q. "A password with 8 characters, consisting of Upper case/Lower Case &0-9"
A. 221,919,451,578,090 combinations.

Provided the characters were a random sequence, (not a word in a dictionary), 8 is safe for on-line login : it would take centuries to try all the possible combinations online.
8 characters not safe for offline use though, where more guesses-per-second are possible : crackable within a day.

this is actually one of the best passwords long and easy to remember and would be even better with some punctuation to further improve its strength. The only problem is that some systems don't support really long passwords.

My favorite though is zero-based proof systems where you answer questions you know the answer to but no one else does and it varies each time you log on.

1. How secure is a password with 8 characters?

A password with 8 characters can be relatively secure if it is made up of a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters. However, it is generally recommended to use longer passwords for increased security.

2. Can a password with 8 characters be easily cracked?

It depends on the complexity of the characters used in the password. A password with only lower case letters or only numbers may be easier to crack compared to one with a combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers. It is important to use a strong and unique password to minimize the risk of it being cracked.

3. How long would it take to crack a password with 8 characters?

The time it takes to crack a password with 8 characters varies depending on the strength of the password and the methods used for cracking. It could range from a few seconds to several years.

4. Is it necessary to include special characters in a password with 8 characters?

Incorporating special characters in a password can make it more secure, but it is not necessary. It is more important to have a unique and strong combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers.

5. Is a password with 8 characters enough for all my online accounts?

It is generally recommended to use a longer password, ideally 12 characters or more, for increased security. However, if a password with 8 characters is the maximum allowed for a specific account, it is still better than using a weak and easily guessable password.
