Back in the day, I used to do a bit of rock climbing, and to see how far the sport has progressed is simply amazing.

To climb at this level is only for a few who are young, light, strong, possesses great focus, concentration, and determination.

My personal favorite: Realization

Listen how Chris describes the climb and what it took to finally make it:

Below that are a few other interesting ones...

The South-eastern U.S. has some of the best climbing in the world, so when Sharma came down on a tour of the region a couple years ago, he stopped by my local climbing gym and we all got to hang out and climb with him.

He's a really nice down to Earth guy, but amazingly powerful.

Deep-water Soloing is fun:

I did too, but mine was limited to 65 ft ascents using a top-secured belay. As you can tell by my terminology, I was a basic climber, but still managed to climb vertical. In 1991 I even won three REI competitions on the same day, one for fastest ascent ($100 pair of approach shoes), other for fastest tent build (free $200 tent!), and the third for most calories produced on a cycle egometer in 5 minutes (free $40 bike helmet).

I was much hated that day...

Hey, good for you! I use to clean-out the bouldering competitions back when I was in my early teens.

You know, its never too late to get back on the rock. There are excellent climbing gyms in practically every corner of the states that offer classes and training to get you back up to speed and back in shape.

This is my local gym:
