Homework Statement

Trying to figure out the following integral was done...

intv(ui(partial)d(sigmaij)/(partial)dxj)dv

Homework Equations

Divergence theorem intv(del.F)dv = ints(F.n)ds

The Attempt at a Solution

I have the correct ans from one of my lectures,

ints(uinjsigmaij)ds - intv((partial)d(ui)/(partial)dxj)sigmaij)dv

I think its done by integration by parts but can't seem to get it to work out.
Also how do people get math script in here??

you do [ tex ] (no spaces) to start and [ /tex ] (no spaces) to finish.

What is integral with suffix notation?

Integral with suffix notation is a mathematical concept used to represent the integral of a function using a suffix or index notation. It is commonly used in physics and engineering to simplify complex equations.

How is integral with suffix notation different from traditional integral notation?

The main difference between integral with suffix notation and traditional integral notation is the use of indices or suffixes instead of the integration variable. This allows for easier manipulation and calculation of integrals, especially in cases where multiple integrals are involved.

What is the purpose of using integral with suffix notation?

The purpose of using integral with suffix notation is to simplify and streamline mathematical equations involving integrals. It also allows for easier interpretation and manipulation of integrals, making it a useful tool in various fields of science and engineering.

How do you solve integrals using suffix notation?

To solve an integral using suffix notation, you first need to identify the independent variable, the limits of integration, and the function to be integrated. Then, replace the integration variable with a suffix or index, and follow the usual steps of integration. Finally, replace the suffix with the original integration variable to obtain the final solution.

In what fields of science is integral with suffix notation commonly used?

Integral with suffix notation is commonly used in physics, engineering, and other fields of science that involve complex mathematical equations, such as fluid mechanics, electromagnetism, and quantum mechanics. It is also used in economics and statistics to model and analyze various phenomena.
