In summary, Alexandra, who weighs 130 pounds, will burn 472 calories per hour while bicycling and 649 calories per hour while rock climbing. With a training program of bicycling for 45 minutes, 3 times a week and rock climbing for 45 minutes every Saturday, she will burn a total of 12,390 calories in 8 weeks.

A popular website states that a 130 pound person will burn 472 Cal/hr bicyling and 649 Cal/hr rockclimbing. Alexandra (who happens to be 130 pound) has decided to start a training program bicycling for 45 minutes, 3 times/week as well as rockclimbing every saturdays. How many calories does Alexandra burn in 8 weeks of training?

Answer:

10170 cal Burnt in 8 weeks of training

Please check if this is the correct answer Thanx alot

im not asking for much :D

Well. I worked it out and got 12,390 cal burnt. Here is my work:

Biking:
45 minutes=3/4 hour
472 Cal/hr=354 Cal/45 min
3 times/week for 8 weeks=24 of the 45 minute sessions
354*24=8,496

Rock climbing:
649 Cal/hr=486.75 Cal/45 min
1 session a week= 8 of the 45 minute sessions
486.75*8=3,894

TOTAL: 8,496+3,894=12,390

(This is assuming that the rock climbing on saturdays is for 45 minutes.)

oook thnx i just spotted my mistake... i did 354 x 8 instead of 24 and she is rock climbing for 1.5h thnx alot

But for how much time does he do rock climbing? You did specify that he does bicycling for 45 mins, 3 times a week. I'm assuming he does rockclimbing for 45 mins every saturday.

For Bicycling

472 Cal/hr, Therefore he'll burn 354 Cal/45min.

In a week, he does that 3 times. So in 8 weeks, 24 times.

Total calories burnt = 24*354 = 8496

For Rockclimbing

649 calories in 60 mins, 1947/4 cals per 45 mins.

He does that 8 times in 8 weeks,

Calories burnt = 8*1947/4 = 3894Grand total = 3894 + 8496 = 12390

Ops, didn't see the previous reply!

Sleek.

1. How do you calculate the number of calories burned in 8 weeks of training for Alexandra?

To calculate the number of calories burned in 8 weeks of training for Alexandra, you will need to know her weight, the intensity of her workouts, and the duration of each workout. Then, you can use the formula: Calories Burned = (MET x Weight in kg x Duration in hours). This will give you an estimate of the total number of calories burned in 8 weeks of training.

2. What is MET and how does it affect the calculation of calories burned?

MET stands for Metabolic Equivalent of Task, which is a unit used to measure the intensity of physical activities. It takes into account the amount of energy expended by the body during an activity. The higher the MET value, the more calories are burned. This is why it is an important factor in calculating the number of calories burned in 8 weeks of training.

3. Does the type of training impact the number of calories burned by Alexandra?

Yes, the type of training will impact the number of calories burned by Alexandra. Different types of exercises have different MET values, meaning they require different amounts of energy and will result in different numbers of calories burned. For example, running has a higher MET value than walking, so it will burn more calories in the same amount of time.

4. Can you provide an example of how to calculate Alexandra's calories burned using the formula?

Sure, let's say Alexandra weighs 150 pounds and does high-intensity interval training (HIIT) for 1 hour each session. The MET value for HIIT is 8.0. Using the formula, we can calculate her calories burned as follows: Calories Burned = (8.0 x 68 kg x 1 hour) = 544 calories. So, in 8 weeks of training (56 sessions), she would burn approximately 30,464 calories.

5. Are there any other factors that may affect the accuracy of the calculated calories burned for Alexandra?

Yes, there are a few other factors that may affect the accuracy of the calculated calories burned for Alexandra. These include her age, gender, and current fitness level. Additionally, using fitness trackers or heart rate monitors can provide more accurate estimates of calories burned during a workout. It's also important to remember that these calculations are just estimates and may not be 100% accurate for everyone.
