Dear all Vietnamese who are living, working, and studying abroad,
Dear all friends who sympathize with our recent loss and our concern for safety,

We, the Vietnamese students studying in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia, have recently been through a mournful tragedy. On the evening of October 13, 2004, our friend Vũ Anh Tuấn (Tuan Vu), a bright 20-year-old first-year student at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, was brutally murdered by a group of racist skinheads. Our loss, however, cannot compare with what Tuan's family is suffering. We have been trying to do anything, even the seemingly impossible, to help his family get over the pain.

Tuan and other international students deserved justice and safety while living and studying in Russia. We want justice for Tuan. We want safety for all other international students, both those who are now studying here, and those in the future. Please help us turn this grief into meaningful actions to accomplish this goal.

Let us remember those who have passed away and think about those who are living.

For a better future for all Vietnamese and international students in Russia, please support our action.

We are now collecting signatures of supporters from all over the world for a petition to submit to the city government of St. Petersburg with the following requests:

1. We request serious investigation of the crime, the arrest of murderers within a month, and a trial for justice;

2. We request that the city government ensure safety for all international students by

- Providing:
+ Security on campus
+ Lightings on campus and in the city,

- Disbanding skinheads and other extremist groups.

Thanks for your support.
