What creates the reaction force in a vertical circle?

In summary, the conversation discusses the production of reaction force in a picture of a cyclist going around a loop. It is explained that the centripetal force, created by the combination of the track's force and the bike's weight, is responsible for keeping the bike moving in a circular path. A link to further information on this concept is also provided.

Hey, Simply I want to figure out what produces the reaction force, in this picture i drew, a reaction force appears directing in the same direction as the weight force, any ideas why? Sorry for the bad drawing :yuck:

The example shows a cyclist going around a loop (upsidedown)

The track exerts a force on the bike.

Yep. The combination of the force of the track and the weight of the bike create the centripetal force that keeps it going in a circle.

1. What is motion in a vertical circle?

Motion in a vertical circle refers to the movement of an object along a circular path in a vertical plane. This type of motion involves both a horizontal and vertical component, as the object moves both around the circle and up and down within the circle.

2. What is the centripetal force in motion in a vertical circle?

The centripetal force in motion in a vertical circle is the force that keeps the object moving in a circular path. It is directed towards the center of the circle and is responsible for continuously changing the direction of the object's velocity.

3. What factors affect the speed of an object in motion in a vertical circle?

The speed of an object in motion in a vertical circle is affected by the radius of the circle, the mass of the object, and the centripetal force acting on the object. A larger radius, a heavier mass, and a greater centripetal force will result in a higher speed.

4. How does gravity affect motion in a vertical circle?

Gravity plays a crucial role in motion in a vertical circle. It provides the centripetal force necessary to keep the object moving in a circular path and also causes the object to accelerate towards the center of the circle, resulting in a changing velocity and direction.

5. What is the difference between uniform and non-uniform motion in a vertical circle?

Uniform motion in a vertical circle refers to when the object moves at a constant speed around the circle, while non-uniform motion refers to when the speed of the object varies along the circle. Non-uniform motion can occur due to changes in the centripetal force or the object's position within the circle.
