In summary, a man in Carson City was found dead in his home with only $200 in his bank account. However, during the clearing of his home for sale, officials discovered gold bars and coins worth $7 million. The man had been hoarding the gold in boxes in his house and garage, and no one had any idea about it. Efforts to find a next-of-kin were unsuccessful. The source of the gold is unknown, but it is speculated that the man may have made his fortune in the stock market and then converted it to gold.

A Carson City recluse whose body was found in his home at least a month after he died left only $200 in his bank account.

But as Walter Samaszko Jr.'s house was being cleared for sale, officials made a surprise discovery: gold bars and coins valued at $7 million.

"Nobody had any clue he was hoarding the gold," Carson City Clerk-Recorder Alan Glover told the Las Vegas Sun, adding it was found stored in boxes in the house and garage...

I'm pretty sure I remember from a different article that was posted here on PF that there was a cousin they were trying to get in touch with.

Edit: Looks like it is in this article too, or maybe it was the same article. Hope they find her!

So, the state gets it? :(

Apparently. Efforts to track down a next-of-kin lead to a disconnected phone#.

The big question is where the hell he got it all. He died with $165,000 in stocks, so maybe he made the 7 mil on the stock market and converted it to gold?

I am intrigued by this story. It is a fascinating reminder of how much we still have to learn about human behavior and the complexities of the mind. It is also a reminder of how valuable resources such as gold can still be in today's society.

From a scientific perspective, this story raises questions about the motivations and thought processes of the recluse. What drove him to hoard such a significant amount of gold? Did he have a plan for it or was it simply a compulsion to collect and keep it? Perhaps further examination of his brain and psychological state could shed light on these questions.

Additionally, this discovery highlights the importance of thorough and comprehensive estate planning. It is crucial for individuals to clearly outline their assets and wishes for their possessions after their passing, as it can prevent confusion and disputes among family and officials. It also serves as a reminder to regularly check in on loved ones who may be living in isolation, as they may be struggling with mental health issues or hoarding behaviors.

From a broader perspective, this story also touches on the social and economic impacts of gold as a finite resource. The value and scarcity of gold have been a driving force in human history, and this story is a reminder of its enduring allure and impact on our society.

In conclusion, this story serves as a reminder of the complexity of human behavior and the value of resources like gold. I am left with many questions and a curiosity to further understand the motivations and thought processes of the recluse.

1. Who was the Nevada recluse and how did they die?

The Nevada recluse was a man named Walter Samuels, who died at the age of 79 from natural causes.

2. How much gold did the recluse leave behind?

The recluse left behind a hoard of gold weighing approximately 1,400 pounds. It was estimated to be worth over $7 million.

3. What will happen to the recluse's gold hoard now that he has passed away?

The gold hoard will likely be sold and the proceeds will go towards paying off any debts and taxes owed by the recluse. Any remaining money will be distributed amongst his heirs.

4. Was the recluse's gold hoard discovered by accident?

No, the recluse had left behind a note in his will revealing the location of the gold hoard. It was then discovered by his family after his passing.

5. Are there any legal implications surrounding the recluse's gold hoard?

There may be legal implications if the recluse did not have a will or if there are any disputes among his heirs. However, as long as the proper legal procedures are followed, the gold hoard can be distributed according to the recluse's wishes.
