It's a rather renown university in the post-soviet space , but i wonder - has anyone heard of it in the western world. What could you say about it ? How does the level of education there compare to other universities.

Good University there are Professors teaching here in the U.S. that are from Russia and some hold degrees from UIPT and others from other known Russian Universities as well. Saint-Petersburg State also has a good Space program if your interested below.

It's my general understanding that undergraduate schools outside of the US are harder than undergraduate schools in the US. This is assuming we are talking about a good school in the specific country, not something backwater.
