Discussion Overview

The discussion centers on the impact of human endogenous retroviruses (HERV) on the evolution of species, particularly humans. Participants seek references and information related to research in this area.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses interest in the effects of HERV on species mutation across generations and requests references for further reading.
  • Another participant seeks clarification on the initial question, emphasizing the need for information specifically about the influence of endogenous retroviruses on human evolution.
  • A third participant provides a link to PubMed, suggesting that many journal articles discuss the relationship between HERV and evolution.
  • There is a follow-up inquiry about the lack of additional references or comments from other participants.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion does not appear to reach a consensus, as participants express varying levels of engagement and responses to the initial inquiry.

Contextual Notes

Participants have not provided specific references or detailed insights into the research on HERV and evolution, indicating a potential limitation in available information or engagement in the discussion.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in evolutionary biology, virology, and the role of retroviruses in human evolution may find this discussion relevant.

I just read a piece of a book that refers to the affect that HERV (human endogenous retroviruses) can have on the mutation of species - throughout the different generations. I was wondering if there was a site or book or some other such reference that I could look up, that has to do with research in this particular field.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does no one have any information on this?

Perhaps the question was not clear. Does anyone have information - or a reference to information - about the affect of endogenous retroviruses on the evolution of the human species?
