SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on calculating the force exerted by a hollow spherical bowl on a particle moving along its inner surface. The particle, with mass M, travels in a horizontal circle at a constant speed, with the center of the circle located 1/3 of the radius (r) below the sphere's center (O). Key calculations involve determining the magnitude of the force exerted by the sphere and the speed of the particle (P).

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Newton's laws of motion
  • Familiarity with circular motion concepts
  • Basic knowledge of gravitational force
  • Ability to apply trigonometric principles in physics
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the principles of circular motion in physics
  • Learn about forces acting on objects in a gravitational field
  • Explore the concept of centripetal force and its calculations
  • Investigate the relationship between mass, radius, and speed in circular motion
USEFUL FOR

Physics students, educators, and anyone interested in mechanics, particularly those studying circular motion and forces in a gravitational context.

I got a quite interesting problem. ere it goes.
A particle P of mass M,moves on the smooth inner surface of a sphere of a fixed hollow spherical bowl, centre O and inner radius r , describing a horizontal circle at constant speed.the centre C of this circle is at a depth 1/3r vertically below O. Determine
the magintude of force exerted by sphere and speed of p
