If you paint one pole of a football a different colour than the other pole and you spin the football it will stand up, but try to guess wheather the painted end will end up or down

I find it a process where from perfect symmetry you get randomness

btw any of you could test for me if a thrown up football spinned fast on the short axe will end up spinning in the longest axe?

Many field goals spin end over end all the way.
Be cautious with your random routine. Slight imperfections in the shape of the football can have dramatic (chaotic) effects on the randomness.
Loaded dice are a good example.
