research on the formation of clouds

i'm doing a research on the formation of clouds and how it accumulats
enough charge to produce lightning....i would be grateful if any one
could help me get this information...
thanks

I've no precise reference. All I know is that a cloud is formed by an
upstream of air, it cool down and water condensates. Then the friction
between air and the droplets produces static electricity.

Not sure at what level your research is, but this is an interesting
device that may be relevent

http://www.amasci.com/emotor/kelvin.html

Kelvin's water-drop electrostatic generator.
"It is possible to build a very simple high-voltage generator which has
no moving parts and is powered by the energy of falling water. By
dribbling water through some old soup cans, several thousand volts
magically appear. "

Ch. 2-9 of "the Feynman Lectures on Physics" is devoted to "Electricity
in the Athmosphere". Ch. 2-9-4 is about thunderstorms' physics. Ch.
2.9-5 contains a brief, vivid sketch of C.T. Wilson's "breaking drop"
theory.
