Best course routes for studying Cosmology

What you would consider as the most suitable undergraduate
programme/route (in UK) for studies in cosmology?

A physics degree, a mathematics degree or a more cosmology-oriented one
like Lanchaster's Uni. "Astrophysics and cosmology"

Please recommend suitable schools and distinguished specialised
departments.

Thank you in advance.

Are you planning on staying in the UK just for your studies, or,
assuming you are looking for a career in cosmology, thereafter as well?

I would recommend physics and astronomy. Certainly "astrophysics and
cosmology" sounds good, but it is also important to keep in mind WHERE
you study. Within the UK, one might expect more objectivity since
people are familiar with various universities and people who teach there
but, like it or not, the fact is that outside the UK, ANY degree from
Cambridge or Oxford probably carries more weight than a good mark in
"astrophysics and cosmology" from Lancashire. I'm not saying that's
justified, just saying that that is the way it is at many places.

Honestly, if you don't have an idea who is doing what where, then I
doubt that your prospects for studying cosmology, much less making a
career out of it, are very good.
