Anyway I just uploaded this young 'beautiful demiselle' male to a macro picture challenge, just to divert from the stereotype butterfly

Young, because the wings are still brown, they turn into deep blue Iridescent black in a few days.

more pics of mechanical birds:

These are among the most difficult shots I have taken so far- the rate of movement, combined with the tiny field of view and requirement to use the mirror lockup function, makes it *really* hard to get a clean shot. I'm practicing for the next ISS flyover- like a moron, I left my camera in the lab on Wednesday, which had possibly the best viewing pass of the summer (in my location).

Funny. I am planning to hunt for A380, they fly now and then over Warsaw. But first I wanted to check if I will be able to take any shots... Well, to some extent yes, but recognizing a plane looking just at the bottom is not easy:

This is a lousy picture taken through a dirty window. I still think I should be seeing more of that rabbit ??

I guess the rabbit is trying to blend in with pigeons?

Anyway I went to another secret biotope of those demoiselles. I saw maybe a dozen banded demoiselles and one beautiful demoiselle female, but the shots taken were less than I had already. But I also encoutered this little fellow, just over an inch long

Anybody fancy to name the species? There are enough specifics visible to determine which it is. It's also on the Dutch red list for dragon flies and damselflies (from 2004), being rare and vulnerable. However, I see that it is proliferating so maybe it may disappear on the next list due 2014.

A bit closer in:

I went for a walk today and saw a bunch of bees pillaging some flowers. Since I took my camera with me, I decided to take a few pictures. It was difficult to get good shots because it was breezy enough that the wind was blowing them all around, but a few good ones came out of it. Here's the best one I could get.

I found some shots of these adorable goats we saw in Sonora, CA. We were going for a walk and didn't even notice them until we heard them "Baahhh'ing" at us.

Sourlemon sorry for the delay,

Yes the lens is a Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM attached to the Canon EOS 7D

And the little damselfly, it's the Small Emerald Damselfly
