SUMMARY

The Ande-Sitter Spacetime, often confused with anti-de Sitter spacetime (AdS), incorporates a negative cosmological constant, leading to a continuously contracting universe. This model suggests that the universe lacks a boundary, as it perpetually expands away. The discussion references Ed Witten's insights and an original paper detailing the properties of AdS spaces, which are recognized as the most symmetric solutions to Einstein's equations with a negative lambda.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of cosmological constants and their implications in general relativity.
  • Familiarity with Einstein's field equations and their solutions.
  • Knowledge of the differences between Ande-Sitter and anti-de Sitter spacetimes.
  • Basic comprehension of the concepts of expanding and contracting universes.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the implications of negative cosmological constants in cosmology.
  • Study the properties and applications of anti-de Sitter spacetime (AdS).
  • Explore Ed Witten's contributions to string theory and their relevance to spacetime models.
  • Investigate the mathematical formulations of Einstein's equations with varying cosmological constants.
USEFUL FOR

Physicists, cosmologists, and students of theoretical physics interested in the dynamics of spacetime and the implications of cosmological constants in the universe's structure.

From what I have gathered from another thread, the Ande-Sitter Spacetime incorperates a negative cosmological constant. Then the universe would constantly be contracting. I am sure I am missing something here. Does the Ande-Siter spacetime incorperate a static universe as well?

One can say a lot, for instance if the Universe is constantly Contracting, then it would have a no-boundery(because the boundery would forever be expanding away).

But here is Ed Witten's thoughts link:http://online.itp.ucsb.edu/online/strings98/witten/oh/04.html

I believe this is an original paper of above:http://www.worldscinet.com/ijmpa/16/1616/S0217751X01004451.html

I never heard of Ande-Sitter Spacetime. I guess you mean anti-de Sitter spacetime (AdS). .
It is an empty universe with negative cosmological constant.
AdS spaces are the most symmetric solutions of the Einstein equations (with lambda<0).
