Wow. I have to admit - that one went right over my head.

(And after enough dumb comments, Greg will fix the link and we'll all look like idiots.)

Heh. Just another example of income inequality. How is it a dean makes twice as much as a tenured professor? Seems to me the salaries of university presidents, provosts, and deans could be cut by 33% and save students quite a bit on tuition.

Unless I missed something in the interpretation.

I think the point is the football coach's salary.

So if we cut the salary university presidents, provosts, and deans we could afford to pay football coaches.

I fixed the original post as best I could, but I should have just scrolled further and seen Gokul's post first.

I'm noticing that the ones that DON'T display correctly seem to get more replies than ones that do.

*smacks mgb_phys* No, silly! The point is if you got rid of university presidents, provosts and deans, you could get away with paying professors less. Much of that salary is to put up with the administrators.

I can't believe football coaches actually make that much. Its good to know that our society is that f'ed up.

i think it would be interesting to take a look at this infographic comparing the U.S. to other developed countries across the world. I was just in Vancouver for an academic camp and met a few young teachers who are making much more than the US median.
