Falling mass on a spring in a box
I'm wondering about this. I've attached a picture of the situation. The spring is in equilibrium before the box starts to fall, and the box sticks to the ground.
What are the equations of motion when the box is falling and after it hits the ground?
Can I use lagrangian mechanics to solve a problem like this?
