I live just over a star, and yet I do not burn,
there are eleven neighbours, none of which turn,
in sequence I am visited, last, first or in between,
P(Q)RS are my initials,
you figure out what I mean.

This is what I have seen

I have never been
To any places that are
farther than those I have seen.
PRSQ I guess should start
With Pluto, isn't it
Part of one thing that you mean ?
Please just Give me a hint,
as a hope for me
To keep guessing what you mean.
Is it the first correct one I have seen ?

this is fascinating
I don't know the answer and if I guess it could make things
worse---because my guess could put other people on the wrong track.
so be warned that this is a wild guess:

there are these monumental arches that say "SPQR" on them
standing for Senatus PopulusQue Romanus----the senate and the roman people---or something, I am not sure about the endings of the words.

maybe Monique is talking about something in Rome
(but maybe not! don't be misled by my guessing)
Rome has some number of hills
If there were 12 hills then one of those hills would have 11 neighbors.
but it isn't 12, I think it's 7 hills---maybe there are 12 other things---Monique says "visited" in some kind of order. Maybe there are 12 things that pilgrims visit.

basically I haven't a clue
but find it a very intriguing riddle
and also like it because it rhymes
if I knew the answer i would try to make the answer into a rhyme

and then there's the odd coincidence that the 4 letters are
a segment of the alphabet

MNO PQRS TUV...

could the answer have something to with the computer keyboard
or the typewriter keyboard?

I have to go, good luck to anyone who tries the riddle!

I thought I had it, then I saw Monique's edit and I know I have it.

Your the Number Seven on a telephone key pad. Seven is also the (PQRS) key and it is above the Star key. Your eleven neighbors are 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9.0,*,#.

I read this and thought it was quality. Loved it. Must say it makes me think of the assumptive mind.

Cheers for it Monique

 it sure is a nice riddle, didn't make it myself though :) (ok, I modified it a little so it isn't googable )

We must thank Marcus for very nearly stumbling across the answer, by seperating the letters into MNO PQRS TUV (or was this his way of hinting he knew the answer?)

Here's the original version, Marcus came really close :)

I live above a star, and yet I never burn,
I have eleven neighbors, and yet none of them turn,
I am visited in sequence, first, last or in between,
PRS (& sometimes Q) are my initials, now tell me what I mean

That is such a wonderful riddle, Monique. Thanks for posting it.

wow
at first i thought that the 'q' is inserted just to make a sequence and it actually is not a part of the riddle, but this was truly amazing and i sure hope we can have some more of this kind.

  • #12
The 'Q' is a little strange, since some phones have it on the key pad and some don't.

Anyways, I was misled from the beginning; I was trying to think of what would live just over Monique.
