VLSI (very large scale intergration)

hey everyone. so im looking for generalities pertaining to your voice on VLSI and how you feel about the topic difficulty. Moreover, i would suspect that VLSI and integrated circuitry has vastly expanded and overpopulated the overall subject matter for a student to learn in a single semester. I guess im just needing advice as to weather a course in this for completing undergrad would be more valuable than a course in communications and signal processing.
