I have trouble falling asleep lately. I tried going to bed early the other night and layed awake all night I was up making sushi at 2:30 am the other night. It was REALLY good.

Maybe some chamomile to ease your mind and put it to good dreamy sleep?

Funny, my mother rinsed my hair with chamomile tea because I wanted to lighten it.

What I remember was whenever my stomach hurt, she would make vervain tea. Worked every time. When I had kids, I could not find vervain anywhere (it's called verbena in the US), so I would have it sent to me from France where fine tea grades were available.

I really got into blending my own teas back in the 60's. Peppermint tea for headaches. And sarsaparilla root tea was delicious. My girlfriend and I started cutting up fresh fruit and putting it into the teapot to flavor teas. Make tea, play some Bob Dylan and The Incredible String Band, she read Ts Elliot and Ezra Pound, I read Richard Brautigan.

I miss the chemist shop at Westbury square. I could buy any herb or root there.

Yes .... except that in classical greek "asteros" (star) would have a couple of accents, as in the attachnent. But "asteriskos" probably isn't classical greek. So please yourself about that!

In pre-classical greek writing, several letters came in assorted shapes:

I'm interested in using this is a drawing and am thinking of something inscribed in stone. In some google images the sigma seems to be represented by a capitol C sort of thing

and in others it's the sigma of calculus (so to speak).

I'd rather use the latter because it's more Greek looking, but am not sure what I might be implying, if anything, by doing so.

Zooby, on a side note, I recently (well, about a month ago) purchased a cheap Kindle version of all the short stories that Edgar Allan Poe has written.

I remember a thread that you made about him, and I joined the discussion briefly, but I quickly realized that I had read very little of anything he had written; mainly a few of his more famous poems, and some of his horror stories.

Once I've finished them all, I'm sure we could start that thread up again. His stories are definitely worthy of discussion, and I've gathered thus far that you greatly enjoy literature.
I was actually interested in discussing his strong bent for debunking things, which comes out directly in some of his writing, and indirectly in some of his characters, most notably the proto-Sherlock Holmes character, C. August Dupin.

I found out, though, after starting that thread that his mind started apparently to break down in his late thirties and he wrote a very long crackpot work that mixes philosophy, mysticism, and physics to explain the universe.

On the other hand, Eureka may have actually been a joke in the vein of Andy Kaufman, intended to skewer the Trancendentalists. Poe's sense of humor was very strange and it would be consistent with his modus operandi to never admit it was a joke. No one has been able to figure this out for sure, though.

This may be Coptic with the letters simplified to straight lines for easier carving on stone, not strictly "Greek".

The attachment is a clip from an encylopedia describing a manuscript which is actually an ancient forgery, the only original copy having been accidentaly detroyed in a fire in 80 BC - note "the place of composition is evidently Egypt", which is where the Copts were, and still are. Working in the 2nd century AD, the forger "forgot" that Christ wasn't around in 80 BC!

In your image, there is clearly the word "pros" = "towards" near the bottom left, with a C for an S.

I like PF because I mentally feel good with whatever comments people offering me or anyone that seems to be me. .
Whether it is true or false compliment doesn't matter really, provided that I feel good and happy, because I always ask myself what if all PF members attack me.

Thanks, that clears up that confusion for me.
